Maximum Heart Rate Chart Age Predicted Max Pulse Rate

Our Heart is the only organ in our body that works continuously for our whole life. its starts pumping blood while we are our mother's womb and continues this work till we die. No other work can be compared to that. Our heart increases the pumping rate when our body is in need of energy and then slows down as we rest. Sometimes this query arises in our mind that whats the maximum heart rate possible. And if there is some maximum limit to that, then does it vary by age. We will try to answer these questions in this article.

What is Heart Rate ?

Heart Rate is the average speed of heart to pump the blood. Average heart rate is 72 in normal human being in resting position in one minute. In each of these 72 cycles our heart expands and then contracts to pump the blood out into blood vessels. 72 is an average figure for normal hear rate . In some people it might be a little bit up and down.

Maximum Heart Rate Chart by Age

Our heart also have some limitations in terms of maximum heart rate. After all its just a pumping machine with certain limits due to its size. However this pumping machine is better than many others. It will take a complete article if we start discussing about how heart works. Here we are only discussing the maximum heart rate.  The table below contains the maximum heart by age.

Max Pulse Rate by Age

Pulse Rate is another synonym for heart rate. In short we also call it pulse. Doctors usually check it by holding our wrists. As the chart above shows the max pulse rate (Max HR) by age. Its calculated by using a formula.

Maximum Heart Rate = 205.5 - (0.685 * Age)

Its the formula accepted in most number of researches. Previously there was another formula  (220 - Age) . But later its found that the max pulse rate shown by this formula is not correct.

If my heart starts beating above the maximum heart rate then will i die ?

The answer is no. But if you are not physically fit than your chances of a heart attack will increase. However it depends from person to person. If you are athletic in nature, then your maximum heart rate limit might have increased. But if you are over weight then you are at risk if your heart starts beating above the maximum heart rate. The chart shown above is just according to age. There is no factor of weight. However it should be. We will update this information as soon as we get new updates about any new researches.

According the medical practitioners the figures given by the above formula is just for a person with normal capabilities. A person with good athletic capabilities can easily increase this limit to a greater extent.

Does our heart become weak as we age ?

The maximum hear rate formula accept this thing that our heart becomes weak as we age. But some people don't think that its true. Researches are going on to find these facts. But as i said earlier the our heart can remain fit for a longer period if we indulge in regular workout or physical activities. Our hear can work in 40s in the same way as it works in 20s but we need to take care of it in our daily routine.

Health is the best wealth. Preserve it.

Types of Mesothelioma Cancer and its Cells

Types of Mesothelioma

  1. Malignant Mesothelioma (Cancerous)
  2. Benign Mesothelioma (Non-cancerous)

Types of Malignant Mesothelioma (by cell-types)

  1. Epithelioid Mesothelioma: Epithelioid cells have a clearly defined, elongated egg-shape and they have a visible nucleus. They multiply faster than other mesothelioma causing cells.
  2. Sarcomatoid Mesothelioma: Its cells spindle-shaped and have an enlarged, elongated nucleus. Somertimes they have multiple nucleus and they are harder to identify.
  3. Biphasic (Mixed) Mesothelioma: In this type of Mesothelioma, both epithelioid and sarcomatoid cells are present in the cancer.

Types of Malignant Mesothelioma (by organs affected)

  1. Pleural Mesothelioma: It affects lungs
  2. Peritoneal Mesothelioma: It affects abdomen
  3. Pericardial mesothelioma: It affects heart
  4. Mesothelioma of the tunica vaginalis: It affects covering layer of testicles

How Mesothelioma affects our organs?

Our body have a thin membrane covering cavities in our body, its called mesothelium. This membrane have a good lubrication, so that our surrounding organs can move easily. An example of that movement is expansion and contraction of our lungs and heart. If this thin membrane get affected by cancerous cells then its called mesothelioma. This type of cancer is mainly caused by asbestos. It may cause formation of tumors which may be cancerous or non-cancerous in nature.

Types of Benign Mesothelioma (by organs affected)

  1. Adenomatoid Mesothelioma: It affects the reproductive organs. Benign tumor can develop in epididymis (ducts that carry sperm cells out of the testicle) in Men. Benign tumor can develop in fallopian tubes in women
  2. Localized Fibrous Tumor of the Pleura: It occurs surrounding the lungs. Normally its non-cancerous in nature. But in 10% cases it may become cancerous.
  3. Benign Cystic Mesothelioma: This type of mesothelioma occurs in the abdominal cavity.

Sarcomatoid Mesothelioma Symptoms and Life Expectancy

There are three major types of cells responsible for Malignant Mesothelioma. Sarcomatoid Mesothelioma is the most lethal of them. 10-15% of all mesothelioma are diagnosed as Sarcomatoid Mesothelioma. Diagnosis of  sarcomatoid mesothelioma is difficult as compared to other types of  mesothelioma due to its similarity with benign tissue cells. Is often misdiagnosed as some other diseases like fibrous pleurisy, fibrosarcoma, and metastasized renal cell carcinoma.

Sarcomatoid Mesothelioma

Sarcomatoid Mesothelioma is a cancer that affects the outer lining of various important organs of human body. Sarcomatoid Mesothelioma cells are elongated and spindle-shaped. They are arranged in a haphazard way. Sarcomatoid cells don't have a nucleus. In most of the cases of sarcomatoid mesothelioma, its found to affect lungs, abdomen or heart. If we categorize Malignant Mesothelioma according to the organs that it affect then there are four types:
  • Pleural Mesothelioma
  • Peritoneal Mesothelioma
  • Pericardial mesothelioma
  • Mesothelioma of the Tunica Vaginalis
All of these can be caused by sarcomatoid cells.

Sarcomatoid cells

Subtypes of Sarcomatoid Mesothelioma

Sarcomatoid Mesothelioma can be further categorized into three types according to behaviour, size and shape of sarcomatoid cells. These types are

1 ) Transitional Mesothelioma

Its caused by standard sarcomatoid cell types. These cells are plump and spindle shaped.

2) Lymphohistiocytoid Mesothelioma

Sarcomatoid cells in this type of Sarcomatoid Mesothelioma are in large amount of inflammatory and immune cells. These cells are Large and spindle-shaped. 1% of all mesotheliomas are this type of mesothelioma.

3) Desmoplastic Mesothelioma

This type of Sarcomatoid Mesothelioma is difficult to diagnose as it is patternless. These cells are Long and found in collagen bundles. 5% of all mesothelioma cases are Desmoplastic Mesothelioma.

Symptoms of Sarcomatoid Mesothelioma

Symptoms of Pleural Mesothelioma with sarcomatoid cell types

  • weight loss
  • weakness
  • shortness of breath

Symptoms of Peritoneal Mesothelioma with sarcomatoid cell types

  • anorexia
  • nausea
  • pain of the abdomen

Misdiagnoses of Sarcomatoid Mesothelioma

Sometimes Sarcomatoid Mesothelioma is misdiagnosed as diseases listed below. So if are suffering from any of these diseases and not responding to the treatment then you should diagnose yourself  for Sarcomatoid Mesothelioma. These diseases are:

  • Pleural liposarcoma
  • Fibrous pleurisy
  • Fibrosarcoma
  • Malignant fibrous histiocytoma
  • Localized fibrous tumors
  • Metastasized renal cell carcinoma

Sarcomatoid Mesothelioma Life Expectancy

Life Expectancy in Sarcomatoid Mesothelioma depends on which subtype of Sarcomatoid Mesothelioma you are suffering from and in which stage the patient is. Only the doctor working the case history can provide some insight about life expectancy. But you can't set a countdown timer according to the time limit told by you doctor as its just an approximate life expectancy and actual time may differ.

Tweaking Your Mind To Think Positive

Human mind has an immeasurable strength and complexity that is beyond understanding. You will be surprised of what you can accomplish if you are going to do your best all the time. You have to pass through certain boundaries before jumping into a conclusion that it is all that you can accomplish. However, once you get through these hindrances, you will want to face more challenging ones. As a result, you will become a lot stronger than you had expected.

If you are going to form a mindset that you are capable of taking down all deterrents along the way, you will most likely succeed in life. Every thought will shape your future. This is because thoughts become words, words become actions, actions become character and character becomes the future. It is like a ripple effect. Your mind creates the ripples that will move toward the future. Hence, a positive mindset will create positive results.

It is up to you to decide if the glass is half-full or haf-empty. Whichever description you choose will definitely influence the next steps that you will take. And if you want to succeed, it is urged to look at the brighter side of things. Hence, perceiving the glass to be half-full instead of half-empty is a better approach.

Research suggests that optimists live longer than pessimists. This is because optimism can help thwart certain health problems and improve quality of life. If you are going to stress over everything that went wrong in your life, you have more chances of developing health problems due to the higher levels of cortisol ( a hormone that is produced in times of stress). It is important to understand that life can’t be perfect but it can certainly be beautiful. You will encounter problems every now and then just like everyone else. And if you are going to allow these problems to knock you down, you will be wasting a lot of precious time. Being optimistic can help you figure out the most viable solution to the problem. Instead of using your time and energy sulking over failures, it will be a lot better to channel them to finding solutions. There are distressing things that cannot be changed but keeping a positive attitude can help you get a fresh start.

It plays a crucial role for success. You may not be extremely successful when it comes to materialistic things but you will have better relationships, peace of mind and satisfaction. Here are some steps on how to achieve happiness in your life:

  1. Get rid of negative thoughts. Negative can catch up with you every now and then but do not let them stay with you forever. These will only cause depression, health problems and strains in your relationship with other people. If your mind is clouded with negativity you will not be able to think clearly and move efficiently. The best remedy for this is to remind you of the good things in life. Whenever negativity sneaks into your head, start listing down all the things that you are thankful of. Surround yourself with positive people too.
  2. Set your goals. Your goals in life should be determined so your moves will be planned. But your goals should be feasible too. This will keep you from being disappointed and frustrated. Strive but accept the things that you can’t change.
  3. Compliment yourself and other people. Never forget to congratulate yourself of a job well-done. Affirmations can help you stay positive about life. Complimenting others can help you and the person receiving the compliment feel better too but (it should be sincere of course). If you look at the better things in other people, you will see life in a brighter light.
  4. Reward yourself. Research says that people who reward themselves tend to be happier and more successful. Therefore you should take vacation once in a while in order to reflect and recharge. Going to the movies, eating somewhere a little fancy, playing sports with friends or simply sitting on the couch all day thinking of nothing can help prevent negative thoughts.
  5. Volunteer for a cause. If you are sharing what you have, you will feel more successful. Helping other people is like helping yourself.
  6. Try something new. Learning a new hobby, traveling to a different place and trying a new cuisine will keep yearning for a longer life since you are always looking forward for something.

Albert Einstein has made a very powerful quote “There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.”Our mind and soul form a very powerful team, with our every thought and our every word we create our own future.

Blood Pressure - Something that Everybody should know about

Did you know that high blood pressure is the same as hypertension. It actually the medical term for high blood pressure. High blood pressure has no signs or symptoms. The only way to know if you have high blood pressure is to get tested.

By taking steps to lower your blood pressure, you can reduce your risk of heart disease, stroke, and kidney failure. Lowering your blood pressure can also help you live a longer, healthier life.

What is blood pressure?

Blood pressure is how hard your blood pushes against the walls of your arteries when your heart pumps blood.

Arteries are the tubes that carry blood away from your heart. Every time your heart beats, it pumps blood through your arteries to the rest of your body.

How can I get my blood pressure checked?

To test your blood pressure, the nurse or doctor will put a cuff around your upper arm and pump up the cuff with air until it feels tight.

This usually takes less than a minute. The doctor or nurse can tell you what your blood pressure numbers are right after the test is over.

You can also check your own blood pressure with a blood pressure machine. You can find blood pressure machines in malls, pharmacies, and grocery stores.

What do blood pressure numbers mean?

A blood pressure test measures you how hard your heart is working to pump blood through your body.

Blood pressure is measured with 2 numbers. The first number is the pressure in your arteries when your heart beats. The second number is the pressure in your arteries between each beat, when your heart relaxes.

Compare your blood pressure to these numbers:

Normal blood pressure is lower than 120/80 (said “120 over 80”).
High blood pressure is 140/90 or higher.
Blood pressure that’s between normal and high (for example, 130/85) is called pre hypertension , or high normal blood pressure.

Am I at risk for high blood pressure?

One in 3 Americans has high blood pressure. Most Americans over age 40 are at risk.

You may be at extra risk for high blood pressure if you:

  • Are overweight or obese
  • Smoke
  • Have a family history of high blood pressure
  • Eat foods high in sodium (salt)
  • Get less than 30 minutes of activity on most days
  • Drink more than a moderate amount of alcohol (2 drinks a day for men or 1 drink a day for women)

What is Stem Cell Banking (Future of Medical Science)

Recently I have seen a stem cell banking advertisement on TV and decided to find whats that as i have never seen an advertisement like that. As i researched about stem cell banking, it comes out as a story of a high-tech Hollywood movie where every thing is made possible by medical science. But overall its good to know that medical science has gone one step ahead.

What is Stem Cell ?

Stem cells are cells present in our body. But these cells have a special capability. They can divide themselves to make new stem cells and those cells can further multiply. They can take shape of any cell present in our body. Our body use these cells to heal itself. Muscles and neurons are also a type of cells and stem cells have the capability to transform themselves into any of these and many more types of cells. According to Wikipedia, "Because a person’s own (autologous) amniotic stem cells can be safely infused back into that individual without being rejected by the body’s immune system".
Important : When stem cells are injected into a certain area of our body then it starts to transform themselves into the cells in its neighborhood.

What is Stem Cell Banking ?

Every body have a different stem cell as every DNA is different. These stem cells are mainly present in the bone marrow. But its present in the maximum amount in the Umbilical cord that connects baby and the mother inside the womb. The cells can be collected from Umbilical cord at the time of child birth. Then these stem cells are preserved by the stem cell banking company for any future use by the child or first degree blood relative of the child.

Who has the ownership of those stem cells ?

As it can be understood from the above description that these stem cells belong to the new born baby but its ownership goes to mother and she is responsible to pay the cost of preservation to the bank. When the child
reaches the legal age, then ownership can be transferred to him / her.

How Stem Cells are collected from Umbilical Cord ?

Stem cells are collected from Umbilical cord at the child birth. After the Umbilical cord is cut from the baby, blood sample is taken from Umbilical cord as it rich in stem cells. In this process the mother don't need to bear any extra pain.

How Stem Cells can be used ?

  • Stem Cells can be used to treat hematopoietic and genetic disorders.
  • Stem Cells are used to treat leukemia and joint repairs.
  • Stem cells have the ability to repair the liver.
  • Stem Cells are a good resource for transplant therapies.

Future of medical Treatment by using Stem Cells

Various researches are going on to know more about stem cells and how they can be used to treat various diseases which don't have any permanent cure till now. So of these treatments are mentioned below.

  • Diabetes: Stem Cell can be used to generate beta cells which produces insulin to reduce sugar in blood.
  • Parkinson’s Disease: Stem Cells can be used to make dopamine releasing cells, which will cure Parkinson's Disease.
  • Liver Damage: Stem cells can be used to generate lever cells to recover liver damage.
