Blood Pressure Medication and Medication Types


If you are suffering from High Blood Pressure Level 1( i.e BP ranging from 140/90 to 159/99 ), then your doctor might suggest you to use any of these medicines:

  • Diuretics (also known as water pills)

  • Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors

  • Angiotensin II receptor blockers

  • Beta blockers

  • Calcium channel blockers

  • Renin inhibitors

Low Blood Pressure (Hypotension) Medication:

  • Fludrocortisone for Orthostatic Hypotension

  • Midodrine (Orvaten, Proamatine) for Chronic Orthostatic Hypotension

Blood Pressure Medication Side Effects


All medicines have certain side effects but these side effects are different in different people, but if you are lucky you might have no side effect. No medicine is side-effect proof. But if you are feeling that certain medicine is causing some side effects, then you should discuss it with your doctor. Doctor might change it. Sometime over dose also cause some side effects.
