Blood Pressure Disorder Types:


There are 2 types of Blood Pressure Disorder Types: High and Low. High Blood Pressure is also known as Hypertension and Low Blood Pressure is known as Hypotension. These can be further categorized into different categories.

Types of Hypertension:

  • White coat hypertension

  • Isolated Systolic Hypertension

  • Malignant Hypertension

  • Primary hypertension

  • Secondary hypertension

  • Resistant Hypertension

  • Hypertension in the lungs

Types of Hypotension:

  • Postural Hypotension

  • Postprandial Hypotension

  • Neurally Mediated Hypotension (NMH)

Blood Pressure Medication and Medication Types


If you are suffering from High Blood Pressure Level 1( i.e BP ranging from 140/90 to 159/99 ), then your doctor might suggest you to use any of these medicines:

  • Diuretics (also known as water pills)

  • Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors

  • Angiotensin II receptor blockers

  • Beta blockers

  • Calcium channel blockers

  • Renin inhibitors

Low Blood Pressure (Hypotension) Medication:

  • Fludrocortisone for Orthostatic Hypotension

  • Midodrine (Orvaten, Proamatine) for Chronic Orthostatic Hypotension

Blood Pressure Medication Side Effects


All medicines have certain side effects but these side effects are different in different people, but if you are lucky you might have no side effect. No medicine is side-effect proof. But if you are feeling that certain medicine is causing some side effects, then you should discuss it with your doctor. Doctor might change it. Sometime over dose also cause some side effects. In some cases the medicines have no side effect but it reacts with some other medication that you are using for some other disease. So keep your doctor aware of all medicines that you are using.
