Some people say that high temperature helps in increasing flexibility of body and humid condition helps in more sweating to remove toxins from body.

Another common name of Hot Yoga is "Bikram Yoga", devised by Bikram Choudhary, who made hot yoga famous in western countries.

There is 4 forms of Hot Yoga done in various parts of world under different name. These are

  • Bikram Yoga: Its done in US since 1970s. There are 26 different poses in Bikram yoga performed at 105 degree Fahrenheit.

Plastic - The Unknown killer of Human Beings

Plastic - The Unknown killer of Human Beings

In the modern world plastic has become an important part of our life. Following are few usages of plastic in our daily life which we are making us sick unintentionally.

  • We drink water from plastic bottles
  • Newly born kids drink milk from plastic bottles
  • Toys of kids are made of plastic (Some kids even try to chew them)
  • People use crockery made of plastic
  • We use plastic utensils in microwave oven
  • Plastic jars are used to store food items in kitchen
  • Plastic ice trays are used in freezers to make ice cubes.
  • A number of food items in market are available in plastic packings.
  • Plastic lunch boxes are used by kids and adults.

You might be wondering that how these items are making us sick. Here we will tell you some facts which should be known to every human being who is aware and want to live a healthy life.

Exact chemical composition of plastic of different brands is different. Its composition is proprietary thus not known. But according to an estimate more than 100 different chemicals can be used to make a plastic product. These chemicals can interact with the food item stored in it (even at room temperature). When we freeze these containers or use them in microwave that chemical interaction is increased.

If you think that plastic of top brands, BPA free Plastic and microwaveable plastic containers are OK to use. Then its just a misconception. Bisphenol-A (in short BPA) creates estrogenic activity (EA). Even BPA-free plastic creates estrogenic activity.

Estrogenic activity can cause following complications in human health

  • Early puberty in females
  • Reduced sperm counts
  • Altered function of the reproductive organs
  • Obesity
  • Increased rates of certain cancers
  • Problems with infant and childhood development.

Estrogenic activity (EA) even in very amount can change the structure and function of human cells. It not only changes cell but also the behavior of organs affected by it.

According to some researches plastic of almost every brand creates EA when put under stress like microwave or freezer. 90% of plastic samples create EA even at room temperature. So you can easily estimate the bad effect of plastic on human health.

How you can save yourself from plastic

  • There is only one simple solution. Try to avoid using plastic in any shape.
  • Use stainless steel utensils and glass jars in your kitchen.
  • Avoid eating fastfood packed in plastic containers.

Carcinogen - Substances that can cause Cancer

Carcinogen are those substance which are directly involved in causing cancer. Its includes not only those components which which are directly linked to causing cancer but also those which are suspected to help a cancer causing element to evolve.

Carcinogen are available in plenty of things in our nearby object but we hardly recognize them. Here we list some most common carcinogens are making us prone to cancer in our own house and outside our house.

Carcinogens inside our house

  • Formaldehyde, a chemical common in building materials. Formaldehyde is a class A carcinogen. Here Class A means worst of its types. Formaldehyde have 50 different synonyms, which are used by manufacturers to hide its presence in their product. Methyl Aldehyde is one such common synonym.
  • Styrene, which is used to make plastics and rubber.
  • Bisphenol, used in the manufacture of food containers and drink bottles
  • Polychlorinated biphenyls found in coolants, flame-retardants and plastics. It affects nervous system and also linked to liver and brain cancers.
  • Perfluorinated found in fast food packaging, non-stick utensils, stain resistant carpets and furniture polishes. It makes people prone to bladder cancer.
  • Organochlorides found in plant pesticides toand mosquito repellents. It can create male genital problems and its disrupts the hormone secretion.
  • Phthalates found in plastics (water bottles and toys of children and many perfume bottles). Its also a hormone disrupter.
  • Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers found in flame-retardants in cars, furniture and TVs, and in clothing treatments. It causes severe hormone disruption and blood disorders.

Carcinogens outside our house

  • IARC has classified outdoor air pollution as a carcinogen in 2013. Previously diesel engine exhaust, solvents, metals, and dust were categorized as carcinogens but not complete outdoor air pollution is mentioned as a cancinogen. It is a good step to make people aware of the bad effect of air pollution.
  • Particulate Matter is another carcinogen. However its a part of air pollution. It is combination of extremely small solid particles and liquid droplets found in air.

Miscellaneous Facts

  • You are inviting cancer to infect you or you family member if you are living near main roads.
  • Children are at most risk if you are living near petrol stations.
  • If you think farmers living in a natural environment are at lower risk of getting cancer, then you are wrong. Pesticides and herbicides used in farms are one of the major causes to develop several types of cancer.
  • Living near power cables or electricity sub-stations is also found dangerous for your health.
  • Some studies have found that living near chemical factories, steel makers, wood cutters/timber merchants or cement factories increases the risk of getting blood cancer or kidney cancer.

Lung Cancer and Air Pollution

During past few years passive smoking and air pollution in metro cities is becoming the major cause of lung diseases. Lung cancer is the worst form such diseases which can take a person to verge of death if not diagnosed at right time.

In a report in 1981, out of all cancer deaths

  • 2% are caused due to pollution
  • 4% are result of occupational exposure
  • 30% are due to smoking
  • 35% due to incorrect diet

Either the environment of that time was much safer or there were some mistakes in that report.

2010 report by the US President's Cancer Panel claims

  • 19% of all cancer deaths worldwide are due to environmental pollution and occupational exposure.

In year 2010 more than 220,000 lung cancer deaths were caused due to air pollution. Majority of these deaths were in China and East Asian Countries due to particulate matter in environment.

In year 2010 around 157,300 deaths in US were caused due to lung cancer. More than 17000 of them were non smokers. Researches contribute exposure to asbestos, passive smoking and air pollution is main reason for these 17000 lung cancer deaths.

According to a data from the Global Burden of Disease Project there were 3.2 million deaths around the world resulted from air pollution in year 2010, including 223,000 from lung cancer.

Norwegian Institute of Public Health in Oslo monitored the health of more than 16000 men in the age group of 40 to 49 years between 1971 to 1998. During the study 418 men got lung cancer. Researchers lead to the following conclusion from that study.

  • Nitrogen oxide, mainly produced by traffic and Sulphur Dioxide increased the risk of Cancer.
  • Urban Air Pollution increases the risk of cancer in men.

Recently a six year old Chinese girl is diagnosed with lung cancer. She is the the youngest patient of lung cancer ever. The main reason for her condition is found to be air pollutants in her locality.

Air pollution exposes majority of population to risk of lung cancer. No matter how rich you are, you are similarly exposed to this threat same as a lower class person. Pollution due to industries and vehicles can't be stopped in a single day. So even if some regulations were imposed, still it will take years for the condition to be better.

No only the air outside your home is polluted, some carcinogens inside our house also pollute the air inside our house. Most of us don't even know the several carcinogen are present in the building material used to construct our house. Know more about Carcinogens.
