How to Lose Weight without Exercise and Gym

Here are a list of steps that you should follow to loose pounds of weight in a week.

  • Change you diet: Dietary changes are the basic thing if you really want to lose weight. But if you can't control your eating habits then its nearly impossible to lose weight.
  • Decrease Calorie Intake: In the beginning measure your calorie intake and then reduce it by 500 calories per day. It will make you lose 1 to 2 pounds in a week. Don't cut you calorie intake more than that as it may result in nutrient deficiency.
  • Drink Water: Drink 8 to 12 glass of water daily. Here water is the key. Don't think that you may drink any liquid. Drink any soft drink or sweetened drink will increase you calorie intake.
  • Eat lots of fruits and Vegetables: Fruits and vegetables are rich source of fiber, vitamins and minerals, but they are low in calories. Fiber makes your stomach feel full and digestion is increased. It makes your body absorb more nutrients from it.
  • Choose Protein over Carbohydrate: When you go for Carbohydrate then eat things rich in fiber such as whole grain. But eating more protein will be beneficial. Protein will make your stomach feel full and you won't need to stay hungry. You may eat dairy products, sea food, eggs and legumes.
  • Wear Sunscreen: As we loose weight sometimes skin gets sagged and wrinkles. To stay away from these side effects its better wear a good sunscreen.
  • Have enough Sleep: Sleeping too much or too less is an invitation to being obese. So have around 7 hours of healthy sleep on daily basis.
  • Avoid alcohol, fast food and sweetened drinks

If all of the above measures are of no use to you then you may consult your dermatologist for liposuction, botox or laser treatments. Dermartologist may suggest the best thing that suits your body and budget. But we personally feel that non-surgical measures given above are the better option to loose weight.

Kidney Transplant and Dialysis Facts

In US there are 123,000 patients waiting for an organ donation. Out of these patients 100,000 are waiting for a kidney. Kidney is the most transplanted organ in medical history. But still only 16000 kidney transplants are done every year. These figures are sufficient to tell the shortage of kidney donors.

Why do one need a Kidney Transplant or Dialysis

Kidney transplant or Dialysis is needed after kidney failure. Till one kidney is arranged, the patient may survive on dialysis. The function of our kidney is to purify the blood by extracting excess fluid, toxins, salts and minerals from it. If this purification is not done then our blood pressure will increase and our bones will become weaker day by day. Shortage of hemoglobin may also occur as hemoglobin is manufactured inside bone marrow. To overcome this thing artificially the blood is purified through machines, which is called Dialysis. It takes 4 to 5 hours for the dialysis to complete and needs to be repeated around thrice per week.

Dialysis vs Kidney Transplant

Dialysis bounds a patient life in certain limits. The patient can't enjoy the life to proper extent as he bound to remain near his dialysis center and visit it every alternative day. If the dialysis expenditure is not covered in your health insurance then it becomes an economic burden as well.
If we compare dialysis to kidney transplant then Kidney transplant is better. But Kidney transplant is not the final step of the treatment. But still Kidney Transplant is the better option. It gives you freedom to a certain extent.
Some patients in US prefer a dialysis machine at home, which gives them certain extent of freedom. But it needs a dedicated operator of the machine who have received the 4-6 weeks dialysis training. Even a family member can receive this training and get it done for you at home.

Facts about Kidney Transplant

  • Usually women patients get more offers of kidney donation from family members but still women receive lesser transplants. The reason is that they don't prefer transplant from a living donor.
  • Kidney from a living donor starts working immediately, while kidney from a deceased donor may take a few days or weeks to start working. In the mean time the patient may need dialysis.
  • The living donor might put his health insurance at stake. In some countries the kidney donor are either not considered suitable for health insurance or they have to pay extra premium amount for their health insurance.
  • Only 60% of kidneys received from a living donor works for more than 15 years compared to 50% in case of deceased donor.

Better Health Facts is not just about Our Own Health

When we talk about "Health" or "Health Facts", usually we think about just our own body. But being healthy is a completely different thing. Our good health is of no use unless we utilize it in a good way. We need a good health to help ourselves in our day-to-day works, but its a moral responsibility of a healthy person to help those who are in need. When we talk about help, then usually people think about monitory help. If you also think so then you are not in perfect healthy state. Help can be a moral support, help can be helping some disabled / old person in crossing a road, help can be saving someone from a suicide attempt. Its not necessary that you always find someone who is in need of help, but if you find someone by chance and you help him/her out of that situation, only then you are in a really healthy state of body and mind.  is not just about Our Own Health, its also about a healthy mind who can help others.

I believe that healthy state of mind is more important that a healthy body. A healthy body only helps ourselves but a healthy mind can help society. Today i have seen a video where i watched people helping others and it ignited a wave of something in me. I felt like crying and felt more motivated to help others.

Some people don't help others thinking that its like degrading our own value and wasting our time. But such people don't know how it feels after helping someone. I myself will never ever waste any such opportunity in my life to help others.

The world is a circle. Whatever we do comes back to us in one or other way. If you help a needy person, then someone may also come to help you when you are in need. The help that we give to others is not necessarily being deposited by God as a good credit value, but its certainly deposited somewhere. It might be stored in yourself as some positive vibes. The receiver of the help might have helped someone earlier in his/her life. So whenever you help someone then don't think that you are earning something, might be you are someone sent by God to undue his help given to others.

Amazing Facts about Dreams

Our Dreams have always fascinated us. Some people think that dreams are some kind of indication about future while some think they are just fulfillment of suppressed desires. We have collected some facts about it from results of some researches and some popular beliefs. Some of these facts might be known to some of you, but we will try to bring out the most amazing facts about dreams in this article.

Here comes my personal favorite part of this article. Dreams have always fascinated me. These facts are not just about watching future through dreams or fulfilling your unfulfilled desires, but much more than that.

  • Blind people can also dream. Those who lost their sight after a few years of birth can view visual dreams (as if they have eyes). Those who are blind since birth also watch dreams, but they are not visual. Such people watch dreams with other senses such as touching and feeling.
  • Some people can control their dreams. They can continue their dream even after knowing that its a dream. They make their mind believe that they are sleeping and the dream continues. This phenomena is called Lucid Dreaming.
  • If you have seen reoccurring dreams then it means that their is some unfulfilled task in your life. Once you analyse and finish that task, the reoccurring dream stops.
  • Dreams have helped in some of the great inventions. One of them is Theory of Relativity by Einstein.
  • Some researches tell that earlier people used to dream Black-and-White. Only 4% were able to dream in color. But with the increased production of Colour Television the colour-dream watchers have increased to 12% of the population.
  • We dream 4 to 7 dreams every night, but don't remember any of them in most of the cases. Usually we remember only that dream that we have seen just before awakening. More that 60% of all dreams are erased from our memory within five minutes after waking-up.
  • You can dream with your eyes open while you are awake. Its not day dreaming. It is Active Dreaming, where one indulges into something and his imagination turns it into a dream.
  • Most of the dream contain negative emotions, such as anger, fear and sadness.
  • Till the age of four we can't include ourselves in our dreams. The self awareness arises in our dreaming brain after four years of age.
  • 70% characters in dreams of both men and women are MEN.
  • Women can have more erotic dreams than men. Mostly men just have erection due to such dreams while the women can easily feel lubrication and orgasm as well.
  • Humans dream for Six years in an average life span.
  • Lack of Dreams can cause psychological disorders such as hallucination. So try to sleep with intention of dreaming.

Some people believe that future can be seen through dreams. But my personal experience is different from that. We forget most of our dreams but when same thing is repeated in reality then we feel that we have seen that thing. Its your wish if you believe this fact or not. But most of the people i have spoken to, agree with this fact.

Can Quitting Smoking cause Heart Attack ?

Smoking Cessation and Myocardial Infarction‬‬ are often co-related to each other. Smoking Cessation is the process of quitting smoking, while Myocardial Infarction‬‬ is commonly known as heart attack. Most smokers think that they will get a Heart Attack if the try to stop smoking, while its opposite is worth believing. Smoking can eventually lead you to a Myocardial Infarction‬‬.

Here we will provide some in-depth information that we have collected after researching for Smoking Cessation and Myocardial Infarction‬‬.

Recently a study was conducted in US on 2400 heart attack survivors from 377 different hospitals. Only those survivors are selected for research who were above 65 years of age and current or recent smokers. Some surprising facts were found in the research.

Heart Attack Risk Calculator

Age: Years
Weight: kg
Do you have a family history of hypertension / heart attack / stroke ?

  • 96% of these survivors received a smoking cessation counselling.
  • Only 9.8% took any medication to help in smoking cessation within 90 days of discharge.
  • This figure rose to 13% within a period of 1 year.
  • Whites and Women are more eager to quit smoking.

Smoking Cessation and Myocardial Infarction‬‬

Previously some people used to say that some Smoking Cessation drugs make a person prone to heart attack (Myocardial Infarction‬‬). This is a complete myth. Some researches are present to verify this thing.
Researchers from the Universities of Edinburgh and Dusseldorf published a research report in The Lancet Respiratory Medicine. They researched health information of 150,000 smokers in England. they were tracked for 6 months when they started any sort of Smoking Cessation. Some people used nicotine replacement therapy (patches, chewing gum or lozenges) while some took some prescribed medicines like varenicline or buproprion . The risk of hearth attack and mental illness was found same in both groups. So its a myth that Smoking Cessation drugs cause heart attack.

United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a safety warning in relation to varenicline. This safety warning is limiting access to this effective drug. According to Professor Daniel Kotz, from the Medical Faculty of the Heinrich-Heine-University Dusseldorf, "Smokers typically lose three months of life expectancy for every year of continued smoking". According to him varenicline is an effective drug.

Heart Attack may occur itself due to side effects of smoking. But people blame it on drugs. So instead of spreading such rumors we should inspire people for Smoking Cessation, which will not only make our health better but also create a better environment for next generations.

Does Walking and Running affect Bone Density

Walking and Running are one of the best physical activities to keep one healthy for a lifetime. It not only exercises your muscles but also provide oxygen to every cell of your body and extends its capability. Recently a number of researches were done to know the effect of exercising on bone density of a person. The effect on bone density judges the strength of bones of person. Before you make an opinion its better to have a look at the results of these studies.

In 2013 a study was done on National Runners and National Walkers. That study compared the results of two different health studies done on these two groups that tracked the participants for 6 years. The comparative study concluded that both running and walking provides same health benefits like reduced hypertension, lower risk of diabetes and decreased cholesterol.

One more study published in American Journal of Public Health concluded that jogging makes our femoral neck stronger which helps in preventing hip fractures.

According to NCBI walking or running has limited positive effects on bone density, while jumping and weight lifting can increase bone mass to a greater extent. Walking and Running are such exercises which can be done by anybody without need of any special equipment, so walking / running is considered best to increase bone density.

How does Walking and Running increase Bone Density ?

When our body especially bones sense less physical activity, they start to shed their mass as if if there is no need of it. It makes our bones fragile and more prone to fracture. But its opposite is also true. If we get indulged in physical activities like walking, running or weight lifting then our bones think that they need extra strength and start to absorb more minerals from the same diet and our bone density increases. Thats why doctors suggest mild exercises to patients of osteoporosis to increase their bone density.

Physical activities not only increases our bone density but also increases the bone thickness 10% more than a normal man.

Modern lifestyle make us sit more. We spend most of our time either sitting in front of TV, on office chair or on Dining table. It decreases our bone density. If we add some physical activity like walking or running in our lifestyle then we can increase the bone density and decrease the risk of fracture that usually increases with age.

Myocardial Infarction Diagnosis Treatment and Risk Factors

Myocardial Infarction

Myocardial Infarction is irreversible death of Heart Muscle due to lack of oxygen supply to it. It is known by another common name Heart Attack.
All of us know that heart supplies blood to all organs by pumping it into arteries. But some of these arteries also carry blood to walls of our heart to make its muscles work properly and keep pumping. But when plaque buildup inside any such artery and causes complete blockage of blood to certain heart muscles then it is Heart Attack. Our heart muscle can bear this blockage for certain amount of time, but if its more than that, then those muscles become permanently dead, which is Myocardial Infarction.

Symptoms of Myocardial Infarction

The very first symptoms is chest pain and feeling of discomfort. If this discomfortness and pain travels into shoulder, arm, back, neck or jaw, then you can be sure that its a heart attack. These symptoms last for more than a few minutes. If you notice such symptoms then you need immediate medical attention. You may also feel shortness of breath, cold sweat and feeling faint.

Myocardial Infarction Diagnosis

Myocardial Infarction Diagnosis is done by examining the symptoms and connecting them with physical examination. ECG Report, Blood Test Report and Heart Muscle Cell Damage are other important part of Myocardial Infarction Diagnosis. Coronary Angiogram is another modern diagnosis method which allows visualization of Heart Arteries and check them for obstruction.

Myocardial Infarction Treatment

Myocardial Infarction is done by both lifestyle changes and Medication. If we talk about lifestyle changes then its the most important part of treatment. It decreases the chances of heart attack. Lifestyle changes include both changes in diet and physical activity. Its better to consult a doctor for correct medication and physical activity routine.  Physical activity routine depends on the degree of damage done by Myocardial Infarction. Changes in Diet are also important. Your doctor may advise you to increase the consumption of wholegrain starch and decrease consumption of sugar and salt. There is some effect of dietary fat in this medical condition. But still doctors advice to stay away from saturated fat and use only unsaturated fat to decrease to deposition of cholesterol in blood vessels.

Myocardial Infarction Risk Factors

Myocardial Infarction risk factors are same as any other heart disease. Some of them are listed here. If you have any of these risk facts then its better consult a doctor and get yourself checked on regular basis. Here are the risk factors.

  • Obesity
  • Lack of Physical Activity
  • Increased Cholesterol or Triglycerides level

  • Tobacco Consumption
  • Men above 45 Years and Women above 55 Years of age.

Celiac Disease Test Diagnosis Treatment & Diet

Celiac Disease Definition

Celiac Disease is a medical condition in which our small intestine become hypersensitive to gluten and causes difficulty in digestion of food. Its a genetic autoimmune disorder where the indigestion of gluten can also cause damage in small intestine.

If this disease remain undiagnosed then it causes long term health complications. 1 in every 100 person is affected by this disease. According to two and one-half million Americans don't even know that they are suffering from this disease. As shown in the image, Celiac disease damages the internal layer of small intestine. It flattens the surface of small intestine and thus the food flows more easily than required for proper digestion. The finger like projections in small intestine are used to absorb nutrients from food. Damage to these structures lead to indigestion and nutrient deficiency.

Celiac Disease Symptoms

  • ADHD-like behavior
  • Chronic fatigue
  • Headaches
  • Bone or Joint Pain
  • Bloating
  • Diarrhea
  • Abdominal Pain
  • Constipation

Long term health risks connected to Celiac disease are

  • Anemia (Iron deficiency)
  • Malfunctioning of Gall bladder
  • Infertility and miscarriage
  • Early onset osteoporosis or osteopenia
  • Lactose intolerance
  • Diseases related to deficiency of Vitamin and minerals
  • Nervous System disorders
  • Pancreatic insufficiency

Celiac Disease is also found connected with other autoimmune disorders such as thyroid disease and Type 1 Diabetes.

Celiac Disease Test Diagnosis

Screening Test: Screening test for Celiac Disease can be done by simple blood test. There are some antibodies in our blood which should be in normal range even after having a gluten diet. Therefore this test is done after having gluten diet (not gluten free diet). If these antibodies rise more than normal in your blood then you need to go through a confirmation test.
Endoscopic Biopsy:  Endoscopic Biopsy of the small intestine is the confirmation test for Celiac Disease, which confirms the damage done by these antibodies in our blood.

Celiac Disease Treatment & Diet

The most effective and primary treatment of Celiac Disease is Gluten Free Diet. In most of the cases the this diet reduces the symptoms gradually. Those suffering from Celiac Disease should strictly avoid wheat, rye and barley in their food. Therefore doctors suggest to stay away from bread and beer. Normal blood glucose produces normal amount of glycated hemoglobin, but if the blood glucose is above normal then glycated hemoglobin increases in a predictable manner, Thus it serves as a better way to calculate blood glucose level in past 3 months.

As you can see in the image provided above that glucose molecules get attached to hemoglobin in the RBC and create Glycohemoglobin (HbA1c). If the amount of  Glycohemoglobin is above a certain range then it means that the person is either diabetic or prediabetic. The table below shows the normal and diabetic range of Glycohemoglobin.

If your test results are above the good range then its better to consult a doctor and get your blood glucose checked every month. Elevated levels of blood glucose for a longer period can result in various other diseases related to heart, kidney and eyes.
